These barriers disproportionately impact low-income and minority communities, exacerbating existing economic and racial disparities. To ensure all consumers can access the benefits of EVs, such as reduced greenhouse gas emissions and lower fuel costs, it is crucial to address these systemic issues.
Consumer Reports suggests several policy solutions to overcome these barriers, including increasing EV availability at dealerships, expanding charging infrastructure, offering financial incentives and tax credits, and enhancing public education about the benefits of EVs.
